1. |
Wipe out the ring groove in the socket
section of the pipe free from dirt and all other
foreign materials to ensure that the rubber ring
make a clean, smooth contact. |
|
|
2. |
Similarly, clean the spigot section of the mating
pipe back up to the witness mark. Ensure that the
chamfer on the spigot is smooth and free of burrs.
This precaution applies particularly to uPVC pipes
which are cut in the field or the project construction
site. An end shaper or bevelling tool or a file
should be used to make the required chamfer end
on the cutted pipe section. |

3. |
Make sure that the BLUEBELL Pipe-Seal Rubber Ring
is clean, dry and not inside out. With the fingers,

into the pipe and place it into the |

socket ring groove. Smooth firmly around the ring
until it seats evenly in the ring groove. |
|
|
|
|
4. |
With a clean piece
of cloth or brush, lubricate the spigot end of the
pipe and especially the chamfer section of the mating
pipe as far as the witness mark. Do not lubricate
the BLUEBELL Pipe-Seal Rubber Ring or the inside
surface of the socket. Never use oils for joint
lubrication as they may attack the rubber. Should
the correct lubricant be temporarily unavailable,
a heavy water or soap solution may be used as an
emergency substitute. |
|
|
5. |
With pipe lying in a straight line,
introduce the spigot into the socket, then push
the spigot home until the witness mark remains just
visible. In this position, clearance is automatically
provided to allow for expansion or contraction of
the pipeline. |
|
|
|
It is therefore important not to
push the spigot past the witness mark. |
